This month Terri and I will join the Ban the Bomb march in New York City on June 17, in support of the historic treaty to ban nuclear weapons that most member states of the UN have already endorsed and will pass at the end of the meeting that convenes this month.
We will march with the UU UN office, and UUs from near and far. The UUCRT holds distinction as both a Peace Advocate Congregation and a UU UN office Blue Ribbon Congregation. That distinction also implies obligation to continue our peace witness and engagement in international affairs. Please Join me and Terri on June 17. Contact me if you wish to come, and we will coordinate how we will make our presence known.
This month I will also go to New Orleans as your delegate to the UUA General Assembly. I’m glad to go, and appreciate the generous donation from Hollis Kellogg that made it possible. I also like the theme this year, “Resist and Rejoice,” and look forward to hosting several educational forums on armed drones in partnership with the UU-UN office, the UU Peace Ministry Network, and Veterans For Peace.
It would be more meaningful, however, if the members of the UUCRT were more involved. Therefore, I am hosting a special forum after service on June 4 to discuss with the community the critical decisions facing the denomination and invite input from the community on how I can best represent the UUCRT.
In service,
CJA
